The Fjord of Odense – management of coastal meadows.

The Danish Nature Agency, Funen has made grazing agreements for 51 hectares of coastal meadows within the EU Habitat Area along the Fjord of Odense. The agreements have been made in 2006 – 2010.

The county of Funen developed a management plan for the coastal meadows in 2006, where hydrology and grazing/mowing have been taken into account. The management plan has been distributed to all landowners in the area. In spring 2005 a campaign was launched with the purpose of obtaining MVJ agreements for the coastal meadows. The subsequent years the landowners were encouraged to apply for subsidies to manage the coastal meadows through the different agri-environment-schemes in the period of 2006 – 2010.
